1000 dead soldiers

We've reached the 1,000 mark for total dead coalition soldiers in Iraq. Of course, this sad milestone passed with little attention to it. It seems these days that soldiers dying barely makes the news headlines. Have we become that accustomed to the continual increase in the body count?
Or is the media playing it down to help Bush in his re-election bid? It's either a case of "let's help Mr. Bush since he gave our parent companies these big tax breaks" or "Yes, Mr. Rove, we see your point about it being bad form...no, no, we're not unpatriotic...no, we don't want to lose access...yes, we understand you can do that...no, we certainly don't want things to come to that...yes, Mr. Rove, we will certainly do what you wish."

Also, the number 1,000 allows us to do some quick math. 887 dead US soldiers means we're taking on 88% of this. Some "coalition of the willing." What a fucking disaster.
