Kerry picks Edwards

Thank God, he did not pick Dick Gephardt! Seriously, despite the soon to follow conservative assault and the usual liberal hand wringing, I think he's a solid choice. I don't see where he can do anything but help. And he seems like he's politically hungry enough that he will fight until he wins.

I'm going to go off on a weird tangent here at the liberal hand wringing I mentioned here. I can hear some parts of my side saying, "oh, no, another rich white man, what will we do?" The conservatives, ruthless vultures they are, will take this and say, "look at those Democrats, two rich white men, the same old, same old." And the conservatives new campaign slogan will be, If you're tired of rich white men, vote Bush/Cheney this November. And they will, with the media's help, most likely succeed in casting themselves as the alternative, non-rich white men choice.
