Thanksgiving 2004
Things to be thankful for this year:
--If you're not in Iraq or Afghanistan, be thankful you're home and safe. If you're a soldier there, be thankful that you have loved ones who genuinely care for your personal welfare. Also be thankful that, in a wide-sweeping general sense, your fellow Americans care for your welfare whether or not we agree with this war.
--Be thankful for being alive. Though it may not always seem like it, life is a great gift.
--Be thankful for your loved ones, even if they are a big pain in the ass.
--Be thankful that there is a God out there that's bigger than certain assholes (you know, the "moral values" crowd) who believe they are his/her personal spokespersons. If you don't believe in God, feel free to ignore me.
--Be thankful for comedy. Where would be without the ability to laugh?
--Be thankful that, regardless of the assholes who run this country, this is still the greatest nation in the world. It will survive them.
This may all be a bit hokey, but I genuinely believe we don't often take the time to just consider things to be thankful for. I'm a big offender of this. I mean, this whole blog is about my bitching about shit.
